Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa: Disney Magic in a Tropical Paradise…Sort Of
May 5, 2026Overall Rating: ★★★★★
Introduction

Main Inn
Nestled along the edge of the iconic TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course, the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is a true desert oasis that effortlessly blends Southwestern charm with elevated luxury. If you’re searching for the place to stay in Scottsdale—whether for relaxation, golf, or a sun-soaked escape—this sprawling resort makes a compelling case for itself.
Accomodations:
★★★★★
The resort offers three distinct accommodation experiences, each catering to a different level of luxury. The main hotel sits at the heart of the property, offering well-appointed rooms and suites with convenient access to the resort’s amenities. For those seeking a more elevated stay, Fairmont Gold delivers a “hotel within a hotel” experience, complete with private lounge access and personalized service.
Then there is Privado—the crown jewel of the property.
During my stay in Privado, I found it to be a peaceful retreat tucked away from the energy of the main resort. The casita-style suites feel private and residential, perfect for those looking to truly unwind. Guests enjoy 24-hour lounge access stocked with elevated snacks, specialty coffees, and non-alcoholic beverages (with alcoholic options available for purchase).
The private pool is a standout—quiet, refined, and outfitted with plush loungers that make it easy to lose track of time. Access to a dedicated spa area further enhances the experience. If relaxation is your priority, Privado is absolutely the way to go.
Pools:
★★★★★
With multiple pool experiences throughout the property, there’s a setting for every mood. Families will love the lively pool complete with waterslides and splash zones, while adults can retreat to more serene, resort-style pools. Attentive service and comfortable loungers elevate the entire experience.
Spa:
★★★★★
Simply put—wow. It’s rare for me to award a full five stars to a spa, but this one earns its place among elite company like Kohler Waters Spa and The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island.
Within the spa lies an even more exclusive experience: the Sisley Spa. Booking a treatment here unlocks access not only to the full spa facilities—hot tubs, cold plunge, sauna, steam room, waterfall soaking pool, rooftop pool, and a tranquil lavender relaxation room—but also a private Sisley lounge complete with complimentary luxury bites and champagne.
Sisley treatments incorporate their renowned high-end skincare products. While I opted for a massage (which, in hindsight, may not fully showcase the product line), I suspect a facial would truly justify the upgrade. That said, the price difference is relatively modest—so I would absolutely opt for Sisley again.
Golf:
★★★★★
It would be impossible not to highlight the resort’s proximity to the legendary WM Phoenix Open, hosted annually at TPC Scottsdale. Known for its famously rowdy crowds and one-of-a-kind atmosphere, it’s a bucket-list event for golf fans.
Outside of tournament week, the course is a masterpiece—immaculately maintained with stunning desert scenery. It’s easy to see why it consistently ranks among the top public courses in the country.

Dining:
★★★★
The resort offers a wide variety of dining options, though—as is often the case—some shine brighter than others.
Pool Dining
Multiple poolside bars and service options make it easy to indulge without ever leaving your lounger. Tropical cocktails, fresh bites, and convenient service keep the vacation vibe alive.
Ironwood American Kitchen
Your classic upscale resort restaurant with a Southwestern twist. Reliable, approachable, and perfect for a casual meal with scenic views of the pool and golf course.

La Hacienda
A slight letdown. Given the region, expectations for bold, vibrant flavors were high—but the execution felt muted and the menu somewhat limited. Perfectly fine, but not memorable.
Toro Latin Restaurant & Rum Bar
Located a short complimentary shuttle ride away at the golf club, Toro aims for a high-energy, upscale vibe—think STK meets Latin fusion. Unfortunately, it leans more “loud conference crowd” than refined dining. The food was decent, but the ambiance and service didn’t quite match the setting. If you’re willing to venture off property, you’ll likely find stronger options.

Bourbon Steak
WOW. This is where the resort truly delivers a standout culinary experience. Helmed by Michael Mina, Bourbon Steak is exceptional in every sense.
We dined here twice—and easily could have returned again. The menu is expansive yet thoughtful, making repeat visits genuinely appealing. The signature trio of seasoned fries with dipping sauces is a playful and memorable amuse-bouche, setting the tone for what’s to come. From perfectly cooked steaks to indulgent desserts, this restaurant is a must.

Final Thoughts
The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess delivers a well-rounded luxury experience with standout accommodations, exceptional amenities, and a few truly memorable highlights—particularly the spa and Bourbon Steak. While not every dining venue hits the mark, the overall experience remains strong.
Whether you’re visiting for golf, relaxation, or a long weekend escape, this resort offers an inviting blend of energy and tranquility. I would absolutely consider returning—especially for another indulgent stay in Privado.
